If you’re around during the third week of June, be sure to stop in for NEBRASKAland Days, when the whole town gets into the Buffalo Bill spirit. At Perks Prairie Paradise in Stockville, walk through 19 historic buildings including a one-room schoolhouse, a sod house, church, saloon, and replicated Old West street. In Champion, the Champion Mill State Historical Park chronicles the history and story of the mill and its importance to the local economy. Family Fun Your family will love the unique cultural attractions on this route. Stop at the Dancing Leaf Earth Lodge and Cultural Learning Center in Wellfleet for an authentic taste of American Indian life, canoeing, hiking, and even a buffalo stew dinner. Step back into the Old West at Ogallala’s Front Street. With live cowboy shows, your whole family will marvel at the replicated Wild West town, including the Crystal Palace Revue and Shoot Out—Nebraska’s longest-running summer theatre. For a taste of the outdoors, visit Lake McConaughy near Ogallala. With white-sand beaches and outstanding fishing, Big Mac is a great stop for kids of all ages.
