Franklin County Museum
1309 H Rd
1309 H Rd, Jct US Hwy 136 & NE Hwy 10 - Three buildings on 1.3 acres of land featuring more than 20,000 artifacts and memorabilia items. Main building features early pioneer settlers, the great American Wars, Franklin County towns and history, special exhibits dedicated to Pierce Lyden (famous Hollywood bad man of westerns from 1932-1962), and Clarence Mitchell, Franklin's own major league baseball player in the early 1900s. Ol' Towne is a recreated old west main street with American Indian artifacts, rock and fossil specimens, old farm items and vintage fire engines. The Lone Star Schoolhouse is an authentic one-room school used in Franklin County. Tours and meeting facilities available. Open Apr-Dec, Sat-Sun, 1-4pm; or by appt. Donation. 308-425-3030
