Hastings Museum/Lied Super Screen Theatre/J.M. McDonald Planetarium

14th St & Burlington Ave - Three floors of natural and cultural history, including an interactive exhibit about the creation of Kool-Aid soft drink mix in Hastings; animal and bird dioramas; People of the Plains exhibit with American Indian and pioneer artifacts; antique transportation exhibit; firearms collection and coin room. East Gallery features changing exhibits and J.M. McDonald Planetarium offers daily sky shows free with museum admission or membership. Groundwater Discovery Adventure has hands-on water activities, paleontology dig site, American Indian tepee and authentic log cabin. Lied Super Screen Theatre shows large-format films daily and 35 mm feature-length films on weekends. Open Mon-Thu, 9am-5pm; Fri-Sat, 9am-8pm; Sun, noon-6pm. Sep-May, closed Mon. Closed Thanksgiving & Christmas. Museum admission: $7 adults, $6.50 seniors, $5 ages 3-12, 2 & under free. Theatre admission: $7.50 adults, $8.50 seniors, $5.50 ages 3-12, $1.50 off for members. 35mm films are $4.50 for all seats. Call for group rates and packages.
