John G. Neihardt State Historic Site

306 W. Elm - Exhibits trace the life of Nebraska's poet laureate and the history of the Great Plains. A Nebraska State Historical Society branch museum. The center features a unique design in the main building based on the Sacred Hoop. Also see the outdoor prayer garden and Neihardt's restored study. "Sunday Afternoon at the Museum" programs. Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm; Sun, 1:30-5pm. Closed weekends, Dec-Feb. Historical marker at site. $1/per person for adult tours. School tours admitted free. Individuals without tours are free. 888-777-4667
